Catholic People's Weeks this summer

Catholic People's Weeks are well into their 2016 programme with successful events at Boars Hill, Hyning and Ammerdown. However, there are some spaces left at the summer events. Note there is a 25% discount for first-time members.

Summer Dates:

Hyning Walking Week - 2nd to 9th July - "A wonderful pilgrimage" (18+)

In his encyclical Laudato Si', Pope Francis says, 'Everything is related, and we human beings are united as brothers and sisters on a wonderful pilgrimage, woven together by the love God has for each of his creatures and which also unites us in fond affection with brother sun, sister moon, brother river and mother Earth'. This week will provide opportunities to look at creation by exploring the countryside around Hyning, on the edge of the Lake District. The group will walk around 10 miles a day. Refreshed by this participants will consider the implications of this 'wonderful pilgrimage'.

Allensford - 30th July to 6th August - "Celtic Connections" (All Age)

By exploring the Celtic understanding of Trinity and the human role in God's creation participants will feel more deeply connected to our Christian roots and our fellow earthly pilgrims.

Penmaenmawr - 1st to 8th August - "The joy of the gospels" (18+)

In Evangelii Gaudium Pope Francis challenges all Christians to share Christ's love with others. This week will consider the themes, and reflect on how we should respond. The Pope wants us to embark on a new chapter of evangelisation, marked by joy. He also invites us to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ. How can we do this? To proclaim the Gospel we need to know the Gospel, but Catholics are often poorly informed about the Good News.

Sidmouth - 20th to 26th August - "Shiny Happy People - the Transfiguration and Us" (All Age)

By examining scripture, theology, liturgy and the arts, by discussing, making, reflecting, praying and celebrating, by being challenged and by having fun, we shall learn about what happened on the mountain, try to understand what it means for us and draw on our collective wisdom for how we can nurture God's light shining within us as transfiguration people.
