'Celebrating Young People Awards' accepting 2016 nominations

2015 awards

2015 awards

The Celebrating Young People Awards honour the achievements of remarkable young people who make our communities and our world a better place. Nominated by anyone from friends and family to teachers and clergy, the winners are drawn from throughout England and Wales and reflect achievements in every area of social action.

Following the success of the first 'Celebrating Young People Awards' in summer 2015, Million Minutes has announced that the 2016 awards will be on 19 July 2016 in London. This year Million Minutes is pleased to be partnering with St Mary's University, Twickenham.

The awards celebrate young people living out Catholic social teaching in their lives and communities. A young person or group nominated (aged 11-25) could be invited to join a glittering ceremony in London, hosted by Baroness Sheila Hollins and with guest of honour, Cardinal Vincent Nichols.

There are seven categories to nominate people for, including for promoting solidarity and peace, for fostering community and participation, and caring for the environment. There is also an award for an inspiring adult youth leader. And once again, Cardinal Nichols will select from the nominations the recipient of the Pope Francis Award.

Nominations for the 2016 awards are now open. Nominations must be received by 20 May 2016. Check out millionminutes.org/awards for all the information needed to nominate, the awards criteria, and resources to use with young people. Then simply fill out the form at millionminutes.org/nominations or download the nomination form at millionminutes.org/awards and return it to Million Minutes.

Thousands of Catholics stayed silent for up to 24 hours during Lent to raise funds for Million Minutes and its projects.
