Online sock retailer SockShop is doubling its support to the Catholic aid agency CAFOD by donating 20% of sales made on its website to the charity for the duration of Fairtrade Fortnight.

Fairtrade Fortnight runs from 23 February to 08 March, and will see SockShop celebrate the ongoing partnership with CAFOD by generously increasing its usual donation of 10% of all online sales to 20% when customers enter the code ‘CAFOD’ at checkout.

SockShop sells a full range of socks, hosiery and underwear to suit all ages and tastes - including a special fruity Fairtrade cotton sock designed by 11 year-old Elliot Heald. Elliot won CAFOD’s 2014 nationwide ‘Find your Fair Trade Feet’ competition - entered by more than 6,000 budding young designers - and saw his sock go into production and be promoted by a host of famous faces, including Dermot O’Leary and Adrian Chiles.

Alok Ruia, SockShop’s Managing Director, said: “As a long-standing supporter of CAFOD, I have always been inspired by the vital work they do in the world’s poorest communities, so I am delighted SockShop is one of the agency’s corporate partners. We’re especially delighted to mark this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight by doubling our donation on items bought - including the CAFOD Fairtrade cotton socks - from 10% to 20% for these two weeks.”

SockShop’s donation to CAFOD will go towards fighting global poverty and injustice. CAFOD works with over 500 partners in Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, helping communities become self-sufficient, providing emergency relief following disasters, and campaigning for justice and an end to poverty.

Anna Cronin-Nowakowska, CAFOD’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “SockShop demonstrates a commitment to helping the world that we would love to see from all businesses. We are thrilled that they will be doubling their donation to us during Fairtrade Fortnight – a testament to their values of ethical business and reflective of the principles of Fairtrade.”

To take advantage of the CAFOD-SockShop partnership, CAFOD supporters should go online to: www.sockshop.co.uk, enter the code ‘CAFOD’ into the gift voucher code box on the basket page, and click on the validate button.
