St Teresa of Avila - Rubens

Throughout 2015 the Church around the world is celebrating the 500th anniversary of the birth of Saint Teresa of Avila, one of the great Doctors of the Church, with special exhibitions, conferences, retreats and Masses. In Britain and Ireland the Centenary Year opened with celebrations in October 2014, and will close with a Mass in the two nations in October 2015.

Oxford: Study Day on John of the Cross in Oxford
A study day on St Teresa's great collaborator, St John of the Cross, led by Dr Peter Tyler, at the University of Oxford's Department for Continuing Education.

23 - 25 February 2015
Wolverhampton: : Teresa Triduum at Wolverhampton Carmelite Monastery
The community will be hosting the Teresa exhibition from 21st February - 1st March. To coincide with this there will be a 'Teresa Triduum' from Monday 23rd to Wednesday 25th February. The event opens with a talk from Fr Matt Blake OCD on St Teresa at 7.30pm on Monday 23rd February to which all are invited. Thereafter, a homily at each daily Mass. Bishop Alan Hopes will be celebrating Mass at Quidenham Carmel in Norfolk, followed by a buffet lunch to mark the anniversary of Teresa's birth. The community will also be hosting the travelling Teresa exhibition from 27 March - 7 April.

London: An Afternoon with St. Teresa at Notting Hill Carmel, London
The first of three Afternoons with St. Teresa - this one on 'Her Life and Times' - at Notting Hill Carmel from 2 - 6pm. (The Carmelite Monastery, 87 St Charles Square, London, W10 6EA, Tel. 0208 960 4248). The afternoon includes an exhibition, a conference by Fr Robert Opala, OCD, a period of silent prayer, refreshments, a Q&A session, and vespers. For further information email Sr Mary of St Joseph. NB This event has been moved from the previously advertised date of 9 May in order not to clash with the Mass at Westminster Cathedral.

Jointly hosted by the Sisters of the Carmelite Monastery at Quidenham in Norfolk and the local Discalced Secular (OCDS) groups, this is the first of three afternoons of talks and reflections on different aspects of Saint Teresa. The focus of this afternoon is her influence on the lives of the sisters and group members. The afternoon will include re freshments and time for discussion, and will end with Sung Vespers.
