What makes a good society? Churches invited to join national conversation
On Church Action on Poverty Sunday – 25 February 2015 – churches are being invited to support the charity’s ital. work to tackle UK poverty – and to be part of a conversation taking place across the UK.
The theme for the day is ‘Visions of the Good Society’. Congregations can use free resources for worship and discussion, to explore their own visions of a better world and to hear about Church Action on Poverty’s work to make those visions a reality.
The day will raise funds for Church Action on Poverty’s projects and campaigns, through church collections and soup lunches. Individual Christians will also be invited to take part in a sponsored Lenten fast, raising awareness of food poverty.
Church Action on Poverty’s Communications Manager Liam Purcell commented: “Church Action on Poverty believes in the unique value of every human being, created in the image of God. We know that if we work together, we can Close the Gap between rich and poor, and build a society which will be happier, healthier, safer and fairer. We know that people in all the UK’s churches have that same vision. On Church Action on Poverty Sunday, we invite you to help us share it more widely.”
