Celebration at National Shrine of Saint Jude, Faversham

The National Shrine of Saint Jude in Faversham, Kent will be holding a special summer event for the first time this Saturday, 31 May. The Order of Carmelites are inviting visitors to come and see the Shrine and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

A number of activities will take place including: an outside Mass; a chance to meet some friars; a guided tour of the Shrine by one of the friars; purchase items from the shop; teas and coffees; an opportunity to light a candle; and finally, an opportunity to leave intentions at the Shrine of Saint Jude. There will also be a number of activities for children to take part in, including a treasure hunt and more.

The summer is always very beautiful at the Shrine, and it will be lovely to see visitors on what we hope will be a warm day.

The day starts at 11am until 4pm, and visitors are welcome to come at any time. The outside service takes place at 1.30pm.

Fr Piet, Chaplain at the Shrine, said: “We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the end of May. Everyone is very welcome”.

Matt Betts, manager of the Shrine, said: “This is the first time that we have had an open day in the summer and we are looking forward to welcoming our regular pilgrims but also anyone who would like to see the Shrine for the first time. All welcome”.

Full timetable:
11am Devotions with Anointing
12 noon Picnic on the grounds (bring you own food)
