Letter: Japan suffers extreme weather + petition
Here in Japan we have the biggest snowfall ever. Nineteen people have died. Roads are closed. Railway lined cease to function. The roofs on old house are collapsing. We are not used to such conditions. Meanwhile in Australia the heatwave has exceeded all imaginings and in the Pacific many beautiful islands are rapidly sinking into the sea.
Climate change is starting in earnest and we must all pull together to try to slow it down through our behaviour and at the same make the necessary changes to help people cope with the effects of changing climate. Therefore I would urge all readers to sign this petition calling for the cancelling of atomic weapons projects and instead use the money to help build up sea defences.
