Take a virtual tour of the Holy Sepulchre

Holy Sepulchre

Holy Sepulchre

Terra Santa, the Franciscan Custodia of Holy Land has discovered an amazing multi-media site with 360 degree photographs of the Holy Sepulchre, the Western Wall and Al Aqsa Mosque.

They write: 'Easter is fast approaching and one of the most ideal places to celebrate it is in the Holy Land and with a pilgrimage to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Of course, not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to make such a trip, but thanks to a Turkish multimedia company, they can now make a virtual visit from their own computer.

'Websites www.360tr.com andwww.std24.net have teamed up with Turkish photographer, Aykut Ince, to create a breathtaking, panoramic, virtual tour of the basilica. Using their mouse or cursor keys, visitors can view the basilica in detail from every possible angle. It is also possible to take similar virtual tours of the Western Wall and the Al Aqsa Mosque. (Note: you will need a fast/broadband connection and Adobe Flash to view it).

'Called the 'Common Project for Humanity', the tour's creators wanted to emphasize the multicultural aspects of Jerusalem, the awareness of which they see as vital to achieving peace.

'The creators are also planning on bringing further Holy Sites into the world of virtual tourism sometime soon.'
