Child protection study day for priests

¬†The National Conference of priests is organising a study day on Priests and the Protection of Children. The event will be held at Oscott College, Chester Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, on Wednesday, January 29 2003, 10.30am to 4.15pm. Eileen Shearer, the head of COPCA (The Catholic Office for the Protection of Children and vulnerable Adults), with Archbishop Vincent Nichols and Archbishop Peter Smith will take the morning session on "The Working of Nolan in the Country". In the afternoon Fr Kristian Paver, a senior Canon Lawyer, and the Judicial Vicar for Plymouth Diocese, together with Mgr Gordon Read, a Canon Lawyer, and Fr Andrew Clark, Senior Prison Chaplain, will address the questions of "Pastoral Implications for the priest: Canon Law, Data Protection and Other Matters". Each session will be followed by an open forum and an opportunity for questions. The cost is £40.00.
