Booking now: summer school to enrich spiritual lives
Comment Email Print
¬†Biblical dramas in the parish, the theology of marriage, liturgy and music, and understanding different interpretations of love, evil and healing are just some of the topics that will be addressed in Living Theology, the Summer School of Christian Faith at Ushaw College, Durham, in July. For nearly forty years, Jesuits and their co-workers have supported this initiative, and this year's course leaders will be drawn from a wide range of disciplines, from theologians to psychologists, and filmmakers to biblical scholars. Living Theology provides opportunities for Christians of all denominations to deepen their knowledge of the Christian faith, to learn new and helpful ways of looking at the whole Christian tradition, and to develop their personal reflection on Christian living and belief. The week will also have a rich liturgical and spiritual dimension, with daily Eucharist, meditative prayers, a reconciliation service and other liturgies, as well as a lively social dimension. Organiser Jo Caramello said: "Two thirds of the participants have been coming for years," she said, "and they say it is the most important week of their year because it gives them confidence to do much more in their own parishes, as well as increasing their knowledge of theology and encouraging their spiritual lives. It's also a fun week, with a fantastic welcoming community spirit." Living Theology runs from 24 to 30 July 2004, at Ushaw College in Durham. The week costs between £247 and £352 per person, and bursaries are available.
