Pro-life charity celebrity cookbook
Comment Email Print
Cherie Blair, Carol Vorderman, Lord Alton, Ann Widdecombe, Michael Howard, Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor and Archbishop Vincent Nichols are just some of the celebrities who have contributed recipes to a cookbook to raise funds for Life. Cherie Blair has sent her favourite chocolate cake recipe. Other dishes include chicken a la Richard Whiteley, and his versions of French apple tart and bubble and squeak, while other celebrities describe their favourite dinners. Mrs Mary Cairns, Worcester LIFE Group's chairperson, explained: "I had the idea to contact celebrities and ask them to send me their favourite recipes so that I could compile them in a 'celebrity cook book' and sell it to raise money for our local LIFE Group. I didn't think I'd get the response I did in a million years! It was overwhelming! "Almost everyone we contacted either supplied a recipe or sent their very best wishes. We were especially thrilled when Prince Charles sent his best regards and wished us well with our venture." In all there are over 40 recipes. Mary said: "I've tried a few out myself and they've all been delicious and very easy to follow. Many of the recipes are handed down from generation to generation. They're tried and tested, so I'm looking forward to working my way through them." LIFE Trustee, Nuala Scarisbrick, said: "I've seen the book and it's incredibly professional and a wonderful idea. We hope Worcester LIFE generate a lot of income for their group. I've contributed a couple of family favourites and I think that's very much the tone of the book. These are interesting recipes from well-known people, but most importantly they're good recipes. We really hope this book does well for Worcester."
