Bishop of Northampton to visit Portsmouth

¬†Catholics in Portsmouth are eagerly awaiting the visit this week of Peter Doyle, Bishop of Northampton. In previous times, Fr Peter ≠ golfer, skier, former rugby player and devotee of squash ≠ had been Administrator at St John's Catholic Cathedral, Portsmouth, before moving to Maidenhead and then to Winchester. As Monsignor and Vicar General to the Portsmouth Diocese, Canon Peter was the first Bishop to be appointed in Britain by Pope Benedict earlier this year." "It is very moving for me,'"said Bishop Doyle, 'to be visiting my roots and the Portsmouth Diocese for which I hold so much affection." Bishop Peter Doyle, will be the main celebrant and will also preach at a special Mass at 7pm tomorrow, 23 November at St John's Cathedral, Edinburgh Road, Portsmouth. All are warmly welcome to celebrate Bishop Doyle's vocation.
