Comment Email Print
¬†All priests active in parish ministry in the Clifton Diocese are taking part in a special gathering from 3 to 7 July. The conference entitled 'With One Heart ≠ Affirming Priesthood' is focussing on the specific changing ministry of priesthood in today's changing world. The meeting is the first occasion in over 25 years that priests of the diocese covering Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Bristol, has joined together as a residential group. Father Timothy Radcliffe OP is giving the keynote speeches at the conference. He has been involved in the preparations which have taken 18 months of planning. He will offer a world view on the unique role of priesthood. Christine Partridge of the Kinharvie Institute of Facilitation is acting as conference facilitator. Father Bernard Massey, Director of Ongoing Formation for Priests, has the responsibility of organising the event. He said: "Bishop Declan wants to gather together priests in active ministry to explore and better understand our ministry and how we can better serve the people of our diocese." The Bishop of Clifton, Right Reverend Declan Lang said: "This is an important gathering fir the priests of the diocese to help us see how in a changing situation, we can proclaim the Gospel and enable our parish communities to flourish. As all times we must be an outward looking church that seeks to serve the wider community of which we are part. If we are concerned only for ourselves, we will die. If we seek first the Kingdom of God, then all else will follow." Source: Clifton Diocese
