Comment Email Print
¬†Leeds Trinity & All Saints will celebrate National Poetry Day 2006 on Thursday 5th October with a day of events along this year's theme of 'Identity'. Lecturing staff from the Department of Humanities at the Higher Education provider in Horsforth will lead shared poetry readings on the subjects, 'Who am I?' and 'Who are we?' The day will also include the launch of two new publications. Tales of the Fox is a CD "talking book" by lecturers Jo Briggs and Paul (Oz) Hardwick which features poets ≠ including Trinity & All Saints staff and students ≠ reading their own work. Carrying Fire is Oz Hardwick's new poetry collection and is the follow up to his successful 2004 book, The Kind Ghosts. Oz has just returned from the European launch of Carrying Fire at the 'Poetry on the Lake' festival in Italy. There is also the opportunity to take part in a writing workshop with one of Trinity & All Saints' writers in residence Ray French. To book onto the workshop contact Sylvia Simpson on s.simpson@leedstrinity.ac.uk. Members of the public are welcome to join in during any part of the day and are encouraged to bring along their personal favourite poems to read at the shared readings. The event begins at 10.30 with coffee and a welcome. For more information see www.leedstrinity.ac.uk
