Festival of festivals
Comment Email Print
¬†A Festival of Festivals takes place at De Nobili Inter-faith Centre in Southall, on Saturday, 21 October. This year the Hindu and Sikh feast of lights, Divali, coincides closely with Eid al Fitr, the Muslim feast which ends the fast of Ramadan, (probably 22 October). At the beginning of the month Jews celebrate Yom Kippur, the feast of Atonement - 2 October. At the end, Christians celebrate the feast of All Saints - 1 November. October also sees two other festivals ≠ Baha'is commemorate the birth of the Bab and Jains the nirvana of Mahavira. De Nobili House will be celebrating these festivals - with quiet prayer, the sharing of food and drink, a chance to relax and talk, and rather more noisy enjoyment as Southall explodes in the world's greatest fireworks display. Feel free to come to any part of the evening and to go home whenever your ears have had enough. Mass is celebrated in St Anselm's Catholic Church at 6.30pm. NB ≠ since this evening is going to be very busy in Southall it is inadvisable to come by car. De Nobili House is at: 6 Osterley Park Road, Southall Middx UB2 4BL, 020 8571 1833
