Wimbledon: Fr Pedro Arrupe centenary celebrations

¬†The centenary of the birth of Fr Pedro Arrupe SJ will be celebrated at Sacred Heart parish in Wimbledon on Saturday, 10 November. Father Arrupe was the Superior General of the Society of Jesus from 1965 to 1983, and was the founder of Jesuit Refugee Service. His commitment to refugees and asylum seekers is reflected in what will be happening at Wimbledon. In the afternoon there will be a photo exhibition describing the life of asylum seekers in Detention Centres in the UK. The Acholi Gospel Choir perform at 4.15pm. Talks and interviews with Asylum seekers start at 6pm. Mass takes place at at 6:30 pm. In the evening (7:30 pm) there will be an award winning theatre performance of 'Asylum Monologues' and buffet supper (cost: £15 per person. Advance booking essential).
