New media company for church groups
Comment Email Print
¬†A new company providing church groups and charities with media training and public relations has been launched. Fruit of the Vine Media has been set up by Greg Watts, who has over 20 years experience working in newspapers, magazines, radio and TV. He is a former advisor to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales and the author of a number of books, including Labourer in the Vineyard: A Portrait of Pope Benedict XVI and, with John Pridmore, the best-seller From Gangland to Promised Land. Greg believes it is important for church groups to know how to use the media effectively to promote their activities and messages to those whom they are aimed at. "Whether you are organising a parish fair, setting up a new project, seeking funding, or trying increase awareness of what you are doing, then you need to think seriously about how you can use the media to help you. You can't assume people know you exist or what you do. As I always say when I run training sessions, the media is an opportunity, not a problem. And today with new media ≠ web sites, blogs, podcasts and so on ≠ there are even more opportunities to get your message out," he said. Fruit of the Vine Media also offers workshops for schools and colleges. "I think it's important that young people know how the media industry actually works. That way, they can make informed judgements about the information and images they are being given. Also, it can be invaluable for those considering a career in the media to get an insider's take on how to get into it." added Greg. For more information see:
