The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has appointed the Right Reverend Arthur Roche, Bishop of Leeds, as Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, raising him to the dignity of Archbishop at the same time.
The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments promotes liturgical pastoral activity, especially regarding the celebration of the Eucharist. It gives support to the diocesan bishops
Next Wednesday, 5 October, Number 14 Quex Road, London NW6 becomes ‘Denis Hurley House’. The naming ceremony will be part of a Service of Blessing led by the Provincial of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, Fr William Fitzpatrick and Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor, together with the former Bishop of Leeds, David Konstant, and the Administrator of Durban Cathedral in South Africa, Fr Stephen Tully.

Christmas came early for crew of the SS Faneromeni, docked in Immingham, Lincolnshire, when they were visited by the Bishop of Leeds, Rt Reverend Arthur Roche, with Apostleship of the Sea chaplain, Fr Colum Kelly,who is also a priest of Leeds Diocese. Bishop Arthur celebrated Mass on board of ship and distributed presents to the crew which had been collected by local parishes.
