In a private meeting with leaders of the inter-denominational Ark Community, Pope Francis said Christians should not wait for theologians to reach agreement, but should walk, pray and work together now. His words came during a 10 October gathering at Casa Santa Marta with members of the community founded by Evangelical leader Tony Palmer who was killed in a road accident last July. Pope’s Evangelical friend Bishop Tony Palmer dies in accident

Bishop Tony Palmer, the Evangelical friend of Pope Francis, who filmed a smartphone message from the Holy Father which went viral on the internet, calling on all Christians to set aside their differences, died on Sunday, 20 July in a motorcycle accident. According to a statement from The Ark Community he founded, three teams of surgeons tried to save Bishop Palmer's life but he passed away in the evening, leaving behind his wife Emiliana and two teenaged children.

Pope Francis sends video message to conference of Evangelical Christians
Pope Francis has sent a filmed message of Christian unity to a conference of Evangelical Christians. The video  begins with an introduction by Bishop Tony Palmer, a personal friend of Pope Francis, based in Texas who speaks about the tragedy in the way Christianity has becomes so divided over the years, and says:  "I have come to understand that diversity is divine; it's division that is diabolic." Pope Francis then gives a brief introduction in which he explains that he doesn't speak much English but is going to speak "heartfully".
