Competition for best in new Christian musical talent
Auditions will be taking place in nine major UK cities early next year, to find the next big name in Christian music.
Performers will be judged by a panel of experts drawn from the very best in the Christian arts and entertainment. The best entries from each region will perform to a live audience before two finalists are selected to receive professional training during a weekend boot camp with the other regional winners.
Hope Academy culminates in a grand final in a top London venue on May 9 and 10, 2008.
This is a unique opportunity for solo singers, groups or bands who believe they have what it takes to be the next big name in Christian music.
The competition will be split into two categories ages 11-17 and 18-35. The winner from each category will receive: A chance to perform in Egypt, with Open Doors and a recording of their best song on a music video
As well as discovering new talent Hope Academy will raise the profile of Open Door, an inter-denominational charity which supports persecuted Christians in 45 countries around the world.
Phil Collins, CEO of the Saltmine Trust, said: "Hope Academy aims to release talent for the Kingdom of God, communicate hope for the global church, present the Gospel of hope for the future and inspire young people that God has a plan for their lives through Christ." Eddie Lyle, CEO Open Doors, said: "The Hope Academy is a spectacular opportunity to identify a new generation of Christian artist, who use their gifts to the Glory of God. More importantly, we want to provide them with an opportunity to connect with people who have no voice, whose stories have never been told, and who need our support. This fusion of the creative arts and compassion will, we believe, raise the profile of the Persecuted Church which has never been so necessary.'..
