Five ministers arrested in peace vigil at Faslane nuclear base
About 154 people have now been arrested in demonstrations which began on Monday at the Trident nuclear submarine base at Faslane, Scotland.
Five Scottish ministers were among the
114 protestors from around the world arrested on Monday. Others
include Tommy Sheridan MSP, Lloyd Quinan MSP Billy Wolfe (SNP)
and the chair of the British CND, Carol Naughton.
Faslane houses Britain's four Trident submarines, which carry
weapons a thousand times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb.
Yesterday morning a minutes silence and a communion service led by church ministers and Scottish clergy was held in remembrance of all victims of war and terror.
Last year, by the end of the three day
demonstration, 379 people had been arrested, including 15 priests
and ministers, Catholic Labour MP George Galloway, Mr Sheridan
and Green Party MEP Caroline Lucas.
