Marist school hosts 'School of Dreams'
The Sunninghill Marist Senior School in
Ascot hosted a School of Dreams project last Thursday. The programme
explored the power of dreams, imagination and creativity through
cross-curricular workshops based on the Dcsf Leading in Learning
initiative.
Selegates attending spanned the Catholic community of schools
across two dioceses. 36 pupils from St Francis RC Primary Ascot,
St Cuthberts RC Primary Englefield Green and the Marist RC Primary,
West Byfleet joined the Sunninghill school for the two day Dream
Time Workshop.
The activities incorporated a number of
thinking strategies and the pupils were taken through information
processing, enquiry/reasoning, creative thinking and evaluation;
there was also an emphasis on communication and presentation skills.
The program was sponsored by Honda. The workshops will support
existing initiatives in Thinking Skills and are designed to equip
teachers to share the programme with all the pupils in their schools.
Mr Karl McCloskey, Head Teacher said:"It has been a pleasure
and a delight to work in partnership with St. Cuthberts', St.
Francis' and our namesake the Marist. Their pupils and staff
were a joy to host alongside our own girls and teachers. We look
forward to further opportunities to share the blessings and giftedness
contained within our respective school communities across the
wider family of schools."
