Canon Digby Samuels and Elizabeth Wang to speak at London art show

This Saturday 15 September, from 2pm 3.30pm, there will be a time of prayer and reflection at the exhibition 'Christ amongst us: Love made visible' in the French Church, Leicester Square. This will include talks by Canon Digby Samuels and artist Elizabeth Wang. All are welcome, no tickets are required. Canon Samuels will be speaking on the exhibition theme, and Elizabeth Wang will be speaking on 'Courage and perseverance in practising and defending the Catholic Faith'.

The exhibition features eighteen large-scale prints of new paintings by Elizabeth Wang, and has encouraged many people since it opened in early July. The pictures illustrate well-known Christian themes such as: The holiness of God, the power of the Holy Eucharist, the merciful love of Christ, Christian prayer, the journey of faith, living with suffering, and the role of the angels and saints. The French church is at 5 Leicester Place, London WC2H 7BX, near Leicester Sq tube station, just off Leicester Sq, between Haagen-Dazs Cafe and Starbucks, near the Prince Charles Cinema. The exhibition pictures can also be seen in the online Art Gallery at: http://www.radiantlight.org.uk/art_gallery_christ_amongst.php. These pictures are available as free high quality downloads. Elizabeth's artwork has been used recently by the Diocese of Leeds in their renewal programme, by the Apostleship of the Sea in their international outreach, and by the Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation (CASE).

"It has often been said that the difficulty modern people have with faith is not so much about the arguments for or against it, but with the difficulty of imagining God's presence in our highly secularised world. The work of Radiant Light is a perfect answer to that problem. Elizabeth Wang's art helps us make "the longest journey", from head to heart, by picturing what this presence might be like in a variety of situations. Radiant Light thus continues the great tradition of the Church from earliest days in using contemporary art to instruct us about God's truth and attract us to his beauty, leading us on to heartfelt adoration and to awareness of his being with us and all people from moment to moment." Mgr Keith Barltrop, Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation (CASE).
