KENYA: Free Calling Service for Missing Persons

The Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU) in collaboration to the Kenyans for Peace Truth and Justice (KPTJ) has set up an initiative of collecting data on the missing and dead persons, owing to the post election violence. The toll free service will be in operation 12 hrs a day i.e. 8:00 am to 8:00 pm for two months.

KENYA: Free Cleft Lip Operations

Metropolitan Hospital in Nairobi is now offering free surgery for people with cleft lips and /or palate.

1. ELIGIBILITY: The surgery is absolutely free for people below 50 years. The offer shall not be extended to any other illness apart from cleft lip and/or palate.

2. BOOKING Monday to Friday at the hospital between 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Telephone bookings are allowed. The surgery will be done on first come first served basis. Food and accommodation are only free for the patients.

3. PARTNERSHIP: The programme is partially and officially funded by SMILE TRAIN, an international children,s charity, and Metropolitan Hospital Nairobi.

St John Bosco Children's Summer Camps

Bookings are now being taken for next year's St John Bosco Children's Summer Camps (2008). They cost £90 a week and have been described as 'non-stop fun'.

Summer Camps for Kids at St Mary's

Sport St Mary's at St Mary's University College, Twickenham, is running its popular sport summer camps again next July and August (2008) at its Strawberry Hill campus.

The camps are designed to develop children's physical and social skills though a structured learning experience in a safe and fun environment.

The camps are open to 8 to 14 year olds who can participate in four day camps in athletics, gymnastics / dance and volleyball. The camps run from July 24 to August 23 and participants will be divided into age groups (8-10 and 11-14).
